My name is Holly. Yoga is my life, and I can’t wait to share it with you.
In around 2010, fed up with trying to get to the gym on a lunchtime, I tried yoga for the first time and quite simply floated back to the office. I was hooked.
I went every day that I could for the next two years, at which point a) I started thinking ‘there has to be more to life than this - ‘this’ being the Groundhog Day of working in an industry I wasn’t very passionate about. And b) my yoga teacher mentioned he was leading a yoga teacher training, and did I know anyone who might fancy it?
I did.
Me.
I enrolled on the training excited to learn more about yoga and to develop a new skill which I may or may not weave into a career…
As it happened, fate had plans. I prioritised being a consistent and reliable yoga teacher, and as a result, I got lots of classes pretty quickly and gave up the day job.
Since 2013, I have worked full-time as a yoga teacher. In 2015 I opened a yoga studio, in 2018 we created our own yoga teacher training which went on to be top 10 in the UK. I have studied neuroscience, poured over research studies, challenged tradition (and revered it)…
But all the above has set the scene for what I now believe yoga to be, which is a powerful tool for whole person wellbeing.
I don’t shun other practices. I lift weights. I love walking. (I do not love running. People do, and I admire them endlessly.) I have tried Pilates many times and always intend to go more often. I think meditation is beyond limits in how much it can give someone, when it is approach with compassion and exploration, not discipline, rules and ‘shoulds’.
But.
Yoga is - there is no doubt in my mind - an incredible tool for helping you live with less pain. Helping you rest, effectively. Helping you feel confident, calm and ready for life. Helping you reduce anxiety, stress and overwhelm.
My yoga sessions are created with YOU in mind. I pride myself on getting to know what you’re struggling with at the moment, and how you would love things to be, and then taking my time to go through knowledge, research and insight to create a yoga session that is right for you: where you are in life right now and where you want to be.
